About the class
The Still Life Series (Online)
Join us online for a relaxed hour of art, creativity, and connection, right from the comfort of your own home. This monthly series of still life workshops is perfect for anyone looking to loosen up their drawing or painting style, or simply unwind after a busy day. Each workshop will feature live demos, guided exercises and a longer drawing and painting, with themes and mediums changing each month.
This workshop’s theme is ‘All about the line’.
Use anything that leaves a mark - pencil, pen, charcoal, markers (or even paint if you’re feeling brave) and see how simple strokes can build shape, structure, and character. We’ll start with a quick look at some inspiring line work from a selection of artists, then move on to short sketches and a longer study. Expect clean lines, expressive lines, and the occasional line that refuses to behave, all part of the fun.
You will need:
Drawing materials - I’ll be using graphtie pencils, pen and charcoal, but feel free to use any drawing or painting medium!
Paper or sketchbook - at least 5 pages between A5 and A3.
Eraser
Sharpener
A comfortable space to work where you can see your screen clearly
Any other drawing and painting tools you’d like to try
Classes will be held via Zoom - a class link will be emailed out to everyone the day before the class. All classes will be recorded, and participants will receive a copy of the recorded class 2 days after the session.
The class will then also be available to purchase as a download if you could not make the live class.
